Sri Lanka's first communications satellite SupremeSat 1 was successfully launched on November 27, 2012 at 18:13hrs on board china's Long March 3B/E launch vehicle from the xichang satellite launch centre. This will be the beginning of new era for Sri Lanka and will be etched in our country's proud history & will stand as a major milestone for Sri Lanka in developing the Motherland as a Naval, Aviation, Commercial, Energy and Knowledge hub, serving as a key link between the East and West.

Sad Nimal Lakshapathiarachchi Passed Away

The gigantic chiropractor in Sri Lanka Media Tv/ Radio has passed away today.

Nimal Lakshapthiarachchi who has done wonders and immense work to uplift the Sri Lankan Electronic media had passes away this morning.

It is reported that the reason for his death has been a cardiac problem and his body is still kept at Asiri Surgical Hospital, Narahenpita.

He had done a lot of hard work to bring Sirasa to the powerful position it is now in. He did everything to make ‘Sirasa’ a popular media amongst the other electronic media. During the last period of his life time, he had working with Hiru TV as its head.

Laksshapathiarachchi is the founder of Sirasa FM, and Sirasa TV; stations that marked turning points in Sri Lanka's radio and television industry. His promising expedition continued establishing the 1st Infotainment television channel in Sri Lanka as a non-terrestrial channel on the Sky Digital Platform.

He also worked as the director general of Sri Lanka's state television network (Rupavahini).

In his last years, he was the brainchild of Hiru TV, a television station which was launched during the month of May. However he had resigned from the station few weeks before his death.
